Reverse Tether [Trial] build.2012.03.07.trial

ReverseTether allows you to access your computer's internet connection on your device via USB, thus, reverse tethering. It's the only app of its kind on the Market.

Now, you might ask why you would need internet on your device if you were already connected on your pc... For whatever reason, like sync your mail, contacts or calendars, download and update apps, pre-cache maps, use online-only apps, etc...

But, phone makers always wrongly assume that either (a) everyone has an unlimited internet data plan on their smartphones, or (b) everyone have a WIFI router at home, so they tend to ignore everyone else.... (a) Most users have a very limited data plan if any, and more often than not, data is very expensive, and (b), some of us with one desktop computer at home don't need a WIFI router, or we're somewhere where WIFI is not available (work, school, library, etc..) but a computer/laptop with a USB port is. ReverseTether is the app for you.

It's still very useful even if you have a data plan/wifi, if you need a super fast internet connection on your device, naturally cabled is faster than any wireless connection. Also, the ability to have your device on your local network is extremely useful for storage and backup.

ReverseTether will first guide you in 2 easy steps to setup your computer for it to work. Then everytime afterwards, with a single click, it will connect you to the internet, appearing as a 3G connection so that apps that explicitly check for mobile data run seamlessly. To disconnect, simply unplug USB. To connect again, plug back USB and run it again. Voila. Easy.

This app requires:
- A ROOTED android device
- A Tether option in your device.
- A desktop/laptop computer with your device drivers installed (and ability to edit Network Connections, no extra software needed)
- An internet connection
- Patience - a connection may take a few seconds to a few minutes to get established, since there's no direct way to do it but through this trick.

All permissions are only needed to establish the connection.

Limitations:
This is a functional trial app that never expires. The one limitation is that you can only connect to the internet in the afternoon and in the late evening, but you can stay online for as long as you want. If you enjoy it please consider purchasing the non-limited version of ReverseTether also available here on Market.

Note that this App was not tested on all android devices and might not work on yours, depending on your manufacturer, your carrier's restrictions, your device's configuration or whatnot. You can just test it. If it works on your device however please let everyone know in your review.
